Autumnal Inspiration and Kara Rosenlund

Let me walk you through this recent chain of events while trying to gather some autumnal inspiration and plan festive outfits for Avery.

I recently purchased Avery this top for Halloween {on SALE for $5!!} but really wanted some orange leggings to go with it. Then I remembered that Jessica of Little Baby Garvin had both of her adorable girls decked out in some super cute orange striped leggings which would be perfect! You can see their matching Halloween ensembles here, and here. The leggings are only available in 4T so I scratched that idea and returned to Little Baby Garvin to catch up on the latest posts. I read this post which reminded me that Jessica was participating in the next Home Depot Style Challenge and I thought oh yea, I should head over to The Apron and see if there’s an update on the Fall style challenge. So I looked and remembered that Joni of Lay Baby Lay was participating in the current challenge. Some of her past challenges have turned out amazing like this playhouse. I haven’t visited her actual blog in a few weeks and wanted to catch up and see if there was any progress teasers for the challenge. So over to her blog I went and there I saw this post from yesterday on Fall Inspiration {or Fall-Spiration as she called it}. How appropriate since that was got this whole little chain of events started in the first place! Joni featured the image below.

KaraRosenlund Fall Place Setting

I am all sorts of OBSESSED with this place setting. If we host Thanksgiving this year, here’s your preview. Grey linen, natural burlap, white plates, fresh herbs and spices, feathers, monogrammed silver, pretty penmanship?! In. LOVE. {Even if Mom hosts this year I think I will demand to take over tablescape duties}.

So I clicked on the link from Joni’s blog which led me to The Kitchn. But this beautiful image did not originate from The Kitchn. Oh no. This image was featured here by Aileen of At Home In Love who did a whole post on the photographer who took this image. And now my obsession goes way beyond the table setting.

Meet Kara Rosenlund.

Her photography is amazing. Her style and styling is impeccable. Her aesthetic is my vision brought to life. And she’s only 30! Australia is lucky to have her.

Discovering Kara when I did was perfect timing because her images really did help inspire me for some Fall decorating, and they’ve also inspired me for my upcoming photography class! I start on Monday! And that makes you some very lucky readers because my less-than-wonderful iPhone photos aren’t the best for the blog. I can’t wait to see how I improve!

That’s all for now. Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten to share my Halloween DIY art that I promised. That’s coming next week!

Have a great weekend!

Design Daydreams

I’m designing an entire room around these pillows from Whitlock & Co on Etsy. It all started with the floral one in the middle. People tend to have a hard time mixing pillows and patterns. The easiest thing you can do is find one with multiple colors in a large pattern, then pick one or two colors from that design and pick different size patterns in those colors. I adore this Etsy shop because the listings are visually organized this way. It’s fool-proof! Don’t you just LOVE how these three look together?! I do.

The Pillows will look fantastic on one of these sofas. I just can’t decide which one!

I am thinking of all kinds of ways to style this coffee table.

I think this buffet on One Kings Lane is gorgeous and I need to have it in the room too. Try to think outside the box on this one a bit. Just because it’s made to be a buffet doesn’t mean it can’t be used as a console! I love how you can see the wood grain and it’s not painted solid white.

I’m getting very excited about this room! Hopefully I can bring it to life instead of just daydreaming about it.

And speaking of decorating a room…today is REVEAL DAY if anyone has been following along with the “One Room Challenge” in blog land. {Quick Backstory: Linda from Calling It Home started this challenge where she lines up 20 PRO bloggers and they have 6 weeks to design a room in their home and post on their progress! So much fun and SO much design eye-candy! I would so LOVE to be included in this someday. It would seriously kick my butt into gear!} Anywhoo – You should check out all the rooms on this tour because there are some truly beautiful and inspiring spaces!

One Room Challenge

It was really hard to pick but I think my favorites are the bathroom on Copy Cat Chic and the dining room on Design Indulgence. Definitely going to borrow a few of their ideas for my own!

Do you have a room in your home that’s screaming for a makeover?

TGIF on Instagram

Happy Friday!

I have this little sign hanging up in my office. It’s  from Paperchat on Etsy. Meagen was even kind enough to customize it a bit for me! {She has an option that’s spelled ya’ll but I asked for the proper, southern spelling!} Her designs are amazeballs and the sayings she uses are right up my alley. I definitely need to go back for one of the gold prints to hang in my home office!

paperchat lose my mind

I love you coworkers ::mostly:: but “y’all gonna make me lose my mind, up in here, up in here”. {Recognize the DMX lyrics?!} How perfect is this for an office as crazy as mine?!

Anywhoo, today I really thought I was going to ‘lose my mind’ so I braved the cold and did a little bauble shopping. Posted a photo of my purchases on Instagram. Do you follow me on Instagram yet? Go take a look to find out what I bought!

Enjoy your weekend, friends!

Artful Inspiration

Recently I started following Evelyn Henson on Pinterest. Let’s first just say that her artwork is awesome. Also, I don’t follow you on Pinterest unless I really like what you Pin ::I’m ruthless:: So, obviously I really dig her style. She has some FREE downloads on her site and I just made this beauty my desktop background {and daily inspiration!} I’m loving it for looks and for the message.
