Serena & Lily Favorites and Sale Picks

I absolutely LOVE Serena & Lily. You can go all out with a very serene and beachy vibe or you can sprinkle items into almost any other style with ease. Their products are gorgeous, functional and HIGH quality. I feel like it can be a bit over budget sometimes and there are many other places where you can get that look and feel without the price tag. I mean, why spend $198 on a sheepskin rug when you can go to IKEA and get the same thing for $30? Am I right?? That being said, there are a number of things that are either hard to replicate, don’t have the same quality, or I just plain prefer from Serena & Lily.

For the next few days, you can shop Serena & Lily for 20% off the whole site during their Spring Design Event! Sale ends Monday 3/25. Use code: INSPO

I’ve rounded up my sale picks for you! Some of these items I own, I love, and would buy 100 times over. Some of these items are things on my wish list (but I have a massive amount of decluttering to do before I will allow myself to purchase!!). I tried to keep this list to some of their lower cost items. Everything pictured above ranges from $46 – $398 with the discount!

  • Baskets: These La Jolla Baskets are probably my favorite baskets of all time. I love organizers of all kinds and my house is FULL of baskets. The La Jolla baskets are a beautiful decorative element alone but they are SUPER functional. For me, they are laundry baskets and a place to corral our clothing donations. I’ve seen look-alike options at places like HomeGoods and they are just not the same.
  • Stools: I’ve wanted this Teak Step Stool for years and I might finally pull the trigger during the sale. When you have small children and it’s necessary to keep a step stool out at all times, this looks way better than the plastic ones. My kiddo no longer needs a stool but we do have plenty of visitors so I’m sure I can find a way to justify the purchase. The Dip-Dyed Stools are used Every :: Single :: DAY in our house. I mentioned them in a favorites video on YouTube several years ago and I love them even more now. I will say, the 3 legs makes them less sturdy than others (read: please don’t stand on them). However, they are comfortable to sit on to do my hair, my makeup, my daughter’s hair, etc. I usually sit on the tall one and rest my feet on the short one because I’m one of those people who is incapable of resting my feet on the floor. Using these stools has been life changing.
  • Pillows: I don’t actually own any Serena & Lily pillows but they are completely my style. I love them! There are plenty of styles, textures, colors, sizes, shapes, etc to choose from that you could easily find ones to go with just about any home decor style. ( Navy Monogram | White)
  • Lanterns: The Whitewashed Hurricanes pictured above would be beautiful on a back deck or patio and even inside on a table or a little floor vignette. I’m so happy to see so many lantern options in all my favorite home decor stores lately! I’m digging these lanterns pictured above too.
  • Kid’s Furniture: I’ve always loved how the adult sized Riviera chairs and barstools look. They give a very Parisian café vibe. I also love how they have come out with a mini version for the kiddos! We just updated our playroom furniture but I might have purchased the Riviera Play Chairs and Riviera Play Table if I had seen them first. Très Chic!
  • Art: Serena & Lily has an incredible selection of original artwork and prints. The piece pictured here is gorgeous “January Buds” – very ME. It’s featured as nursery decor and there are a bunch of sweet images for a sweet babe’s room but I could place this floral print in just about any room. I’m obsessed.
  • Chairs: There are at least 8 different chairs I would love to have from Serena & Lily. They know how to do chairs well. Director’s chairs have been around in design for a long time. They’re classic and so are stripes. Enter the striped Director’s Chair. Use it indoors or out. You just can’t go wrong.
  • Beach Towels: Serena & Lily textiles are just plain good. I could link you to the beach towel here and just leave it at that. Just plain good. But I’ll just add that I love having a big stack of matching beach towels and these are soft, absorbent, big, and -buzz word of the day- QUALITY. They are also perfect to double as a blanket if you dig that whole sitting at the beach (or just outside) on a cool evening.

I would also love to throw a new dining set, some amazing lighting (in love with this sconce), and a new rug for the living room into my online shopping cart and I might have to try out their linen pajama sets!

Do you have anything from Serena & Lily that you love? Are you shopping the sale? Leave a comment below!

The Little Things: What a Fox

I haven’t the slightest clue how it started but one of my most recent obessessions is foxes. It’s weird to me that I like foxes because they hold no special meaning to me and my only real life experiences with foxes have been ones I’d rather forget. {Growing up in such a wooded area means lots of foxes. A howl from a fox sounds like a woman screaming which is a very unsettling noise to wake up to in the middle of the night. Also, I was very young when I witnessed Animal Control…take care of…a fox in my front yard. Traumatizing.} I also hate that stupid song that tries to play on my Kids’ Radio station on Pandora. The fox doesn’t say that. Anywhoo, I’m going to blame my love on the coloring of foxes. Real foxes and pictures of foxes seems to have my favorite color combination of black, white, and brown. Sometimes the brown can look really orange but other times it’s that perfect saddle brown leather color. The colors together seem to be the palette I prefer when interior decorating.

I use lots of paper clips at work. {I know that sounds completely random and unrelated to foxes but just stick with me for a minute!} My paper clip storage and access at my desk just wasn’t working. And then I found a fox that would fix my problem and add a little bit of fun.

CitySouthern Magnetic Fox

Not only is it wood, white, and gold…It’s magnetic! When the package with my new fox friend arrived in the mail, he came with a paper clip and a bobbi pin. How genius is that?! Not only is he perfect for your desk but you could stick this little guy on your nightstand or bathroom sink to help you corral those loose hair pins! Trust me, if he goes on sale, I will buy a second one for that very purpose. I love that the clip and pin were attached in the box to show you ideas on how to use him to the fullest!

It really is the “little things” that make such a difference in life. Last time I mentioned how fresh flowers can always brighten my day. Now this little fox makes me happy every time I see him on my desk. And we could all use a little happy at work!

If you’re jealous, head on over to CB2 and get a foxy friend of your own!

FALLing for Nate Berkus

I am at Target a lot. No really, a LOT. I often end up with lots of things in my cart that weren’t on my list. I often walk around the store and think it over while I get the necessities, then put some of the other things back because I don’t need them. More often than not, the things that I can’t live without are part of the Nate Berkus for Target collection. The new items for Fall are no exception. It seems there are many pieces that I just cannot live without. My design asthetic has always  been all about the neutrals and right now I’m loving black, white, gold, and mixed wood tones, with lots of textures. I think Nate must have read my mind because that pretty much describes the line. Take a look for yourself and see if you don’t just FALL in love with it yourself! {And snag up some of last season’s Nate items on clearance before they are all gone!}

Design Daydreams

I’m designing an entire room around these pillows from Whitlock & Co on Etsy. It all started with the floral one in the middle. People tend to have a hard time mixing pillows and patterns. The easiest thing you can do is find one with multiple colors in a large pattern, then pick one or two colors from that design and pick different size patterns in those colors. I adore this Etsy shop because the listings are visually organized this way. It’s fool-proof! Don’t you just LOVE how these three look together?! I do.

The Pillows will look fantastic on one of these sofas. I just can’t decide which one!

I am thinking of all kinds of ways to style this coffee table.

I think this buffet on One Kings Lane is gorgeous and I need to have it in the room too. Try to think outside the box on this one a bit. Just because it’s made to be a buffet doesn’t mean it can’t be used as a console! I love how you can see the wood grain and it’s not painted solid white.

I’m getting very excited about this room! Hopefully I can bring it to life instead of just daydreaming about it.

And speaking of decorating a room…today is REVEAL DAY if anyone has been following along with the “One Room Challenge” in blog land. {Quick Backstory: Linda from Calling It Home started this challenge where she lines up 20 PRO bloggers and they have 6 weeks to design a room in their home and post on their progress! So much fun and SO much design eye-candy! I would so LOVE to be included in this someday. It would seriously kick my butt into gear!} Anywhoo – You should check out all the rooms on this tour because there are some truly beautiful and inspiring spaces!

One Room Challenge

It was really hard to pick but I think my favorites are the bathroom on Copy Cat Chic and the dining room on Design Indulgence. Definitely going to borrow a few of their ideas for my own!

Do you have a room in your home that’s screaming for a makeover?

Kardashian Kids

Say what you want to about the Kardashians, have you heard about their new line of baby girl clothes launching at Babies R’ Us?? I say “baby girl clothes” because it’s for girls only, and only up to size 24 months. Lucky for me, A is still in that size range {although I’m not sure just how long} and even if I like nothing else, I’m swooning over these gold polka dots!!

The collection is available online TODAY and hits stores tomorrow! Thoughts? Comments?

TGIF on Instagram

Happy Friday!

I have this little sign hanging up in my office. It’s  from Paperchat on Etsy. Meagen was even kind enough to customize it a bit for me! {She has an option that’s spelled ya’ll but I asked for the proper, southern spelling!} Her designs are amazeballs and the sayings she uses are right up my alley. I definitely need to go back for one of the gold prints to hang in my home office!

paperchat lose my mind

I love you coworkers ::mostly:: but “y’all gonna make me lose my mind, up in here, up in here”. {Recognize the DMX lyrics?!} How perfect is this for an office as crazy as mine?!

Anywhoo, today I really thought I was going to ‘lose my mind’ so I braved the cold and did a little bauble shopping. Posted a photo of my purchases on Instagram. Do you follow me on Instagram yet? Go take a look to find out what I bought!

Enjoy your weekend, friends!

Sick Day Favorites

I’m still under the weather. And today I mean that two-ways because I am still sick but I’m also dealing with the two inches of snow that fell last night/this morning. {Am I the only one who didn’t know that was coming?!}

My sweet baby girl hasn’t been feeling well either. This weekend we skipped our chores and filled our days with plenty of snuggles and resting. It’s quite a handful to take care of a sick little one when you are sick too!  Here’s a roundup of some things to help you {and your littles!} get through a nasty winter cold.
